RIP Pumpkin

A sad week at Woodland Nook as poor old Pumpkin went to kitty heaven. Pumpkin was found a couple of months ago and, due to an expensive medical issue, was due to be put to sleep. But caring cat-lovers felt he deserved a second chance and raised enough to pay the vet’s bill and bring him to Woodland Nook, where he spent his last days in comfort and contentment. Sadly, his condition deteriorated over the past few days, so it was time to say goodbye. Although his time at the shelter was short, we will miss him!

You can now donate food in Ripley

Big thanks to The Pet Shop, Oxford Street, Ripley, which has kindly agreed to take food donations for Woodland Nook. A box of Felix pouches was received before the donations bin was even fully installed – what a result!

So, if you are shopping in Ripley but don’t have time to pop to the shelter, it’s easy to pop into The Pet Shop and drop off something tasty for the cats at Woodland Nook. Thank you!

Black cats - how lucky is that?

Want a lucky black cat?  There are lots of these little beauties at Woodland Nook at the moment, after a surprise delivery of what initially appeared to be a mother and four pregnant black kittens.

Further inspection revealed the tabby “mother” to be a male, one of the black “kittens” to be the mother and the remaining three all to be boys! Worming treatment has been administered to reduce those poor little swollen bellies.

Other than that, they seem fine – friendly and playful and ready for homes... apart from one lucky fellow, who has already been rehomed.

Radio star!

Our very own Jane was a radio star today, with a short appearance on Radio Derby putting the case forward for cats versus dogs. You can listen to her on the iPlayer by clicking here. Jane is on about 1hr 30 mins in!

Bit annoying that the presenter seemed to think Woodland Nook was a cattery but hey, any publicity is good publicity!

Pippa - smiling inside

Pippa may look cross but she’s smiling inside, honest. Although she wasn’t too happy the other day when the dustpan and brush fell on her. In fact, that’s probably what she was thinking about when this picture was taken!
